Denmark's biggest running Dutch windmill with stage

A little mill history

In 1895 Ole Knudsen, the mill owner at the time, rebuilt Uldum Mill at it's present place after a fire.
The original mill was situated at Hesselballe Mark (field).
The mill farm-house, which was spared, is stille standing there.
In 1982 a number of Uldum citizens bought the mill, which was then badly damaged.
Since then it has been gently restored and was reopened on 23rd May 1992.
The mill has now been transformed into a privat foundation with a working miller who is responsible for the production and the daily sale.

A rare mill

The Dutch mills have been widespread all over Europe. They became popular in Denmark during the 19th century.
When culminatting there were 2861 wind- and water mills in Denmark.
Besides Uldum Mill only a few running mills are left. Uldum Mill is the biggest one of preserved mills.

The public is admitted to all lofts and in all rooms.
